SMCUV’s Leadership and Goals for 2010

After a fantastic year of many, many volunteer hours, great efforts, and successful events, the founders of SMCUV (Jack Hadley, April Atwater and Tyler Hartle) handed off the reigns to a brand new batch of ambitious social media aficionados last week. Without the efforts of our founders, all the exciting things we have planned for this next year would not be possible, and we’d like to thank them graciously.
If you’d be so kind, take some time to leave a comment at the bottom of this page to let us know 3 things that you are hoping to gain from SMCUV this year.
Are there topics you would like to cover?
Are there specific people you’d like to see come speak?
Are there social media platforms you would like to learn more about?
We’re all about catering to your needs, so please help us by giving some direction in the comments at the bottom of this post.
Taking the reigns as President of SMCUV is Seth Jenks. We’ll be writing up a feature on Seth soon so we can all get to know him, his interests, and his goals for the club.
Bailey Bouchard was named the head of the publicity and events committee.
Joanie Atwater is heading up the sponsorship and facilities committee.
We’re excited to see the great things in store for SMCUV in 2010. See you in February!

The energy and expertise surrounding this year’s leadership will help make this a great growth year for the club.
One of the things that I would like to see is some creativity in thinking of ways to involve more businesses in the club that are not from our social media “space”. Sometimes it has felt to me like we haven’t done a very good job of helping local business people see the value in associating with and learning from the club’s members. These business people are really the ones that can gain the most from coming to meetings, learning and participating. People like Danielle Mahoney, for example, from Dream Dinners and Adam Weight from Western Community Bank see the value… But there are hundreds of others in the valley that could benefit.
I recognize that my perspective is from a social media “marketing” perspective, and probably doesn’t represent all the interests in our club. So, I am also anxious to hear what kinds of things other members would like to see us do this year.
Thanks to this year’s new leadership for taking on this responsibility. You rock, guys.
