Come and learn  to Get Your Message Out: How to Market Yourself Online. Our focus this month is on branding yourself, and what better way to start than with tips and tricks for effective online marketing.

We’ll have a special panel discussion with Seth Jenks, presenting: “Google is the new resume” and Enoch Chapman, presenting: “Communicating Effective Marketing Messages.”

Seth Jenks:

Seth is the worker of all things Search and Social at APX Alarm. After getting his start in social media as the online marketing director at Advent Creative in Cache Valley, Utah, he helped develop (along with @marshallt) the social media and SEO strategy for the Ogden Standard Examiner, to cope with the shifting industry.

Seth has had the pleasure of working with and consulting for business all over the nation on the topics of SEO and social media. Seth was also a guest speaker at the University of Colorado with the infamous Gwen Bell of Kirtsy fame and was recently named this years president of SMCUV.

Enoch Chapman:

Professional Technical Adviser with over 20 years experience working in marketing, systems integrations, training and education as well as various development languages. Enoch has worked with many prestigious clients including: ModusLink, Propay, IBahn, Team Everest, Agel, Novell and many others. With each company Enoch has increased revenues and productivity by thorough analysis of practices, processes and technology.

Enoch is one of the most sought after Consultants in the Utah Valley Consultancy Market.

This month, we’re also pleased to have refreshments provided by Dream Dinners of Orem, beginning at 6:30 pm. Our panel will begin at 7:00 pm, with networking from 8:30 pm to 9:00 pm. We’ll be meeting at Utah Valley University in room 213B in the Student Center.

Feel free to comment with any questions or concerns. We hope to see you there!

After a fantastic year of many, many volunteer hours, great efforts, and successful events, the founders of SMCUV (Jack Hadley, April Atwater and Tyler Hartle)  handed off the reigns to a brand new batch of ambitious social media aficionados last week. Without the efforts of our founders, all the exciting things  we have planned for this next year would not be possible, and we’d like to thank them graciously.

If you’d be so kind, take some time to leave a comment at the bottom of this page to let us know 3 things that you are hoping to gain from SMCUV this year.

Are there topics you would like to cover?

Are there specific people you’d like to see come speak?

Are there social media platforms you would like to learn more about?

We’re all about catering to your needs, so please help us by giving some direction in the comments at the bottom of this post.

Taking the reigns as President of SMCUV is Seth Jenks. We’ll be writing up a feature on Seth soon so we can all get to know him, his interests, and his goals for the club.

Bailey Bouchard was named the head of the publicity and events committee.

Joanie Atwater is heading up the sponsorship and facilities committee.

We’re excited to see the great things in store for SMCUV in 2010. See you in February!

Hello social media club friends. Happy new year! We hope you had a wonderful holiday season!

We’re excited to get rolling again with SMCUV! We will be holding an important planning meeting THIS THURSDAY, JANUARY 7TH, AT 7:00PM, at the BELLE MONET CLUBHOUSE in PLEASANT GROVE. The address is: 581 South 2220 West, Pleasant Grove. Thanks to Seth Jenks (@sethjenks) for arranging this place for us to meet. The Tahitian Noni folks decided not to be so accommodating any more and wanted to start charging us to meet there. Too bad.

WE NEED YOUR HELP! We feel like the success of our club will depend on how many people we can get to participate in planning and carrying out club activities. Many hands make light work! So, if you think you can carve out a little time this year to help, please come to the meeting and get on one of our committees! We got some decent traction in 2009… As you know, we only started early last year. But, we would like to get a ton more traction in ’10!

So, PLEASE JOIN US FOR OUR PLANNING MEETING ON THURSDAY!

If you have any questions, contact me, @jack_hadley . See you then! Or, questions about the location of the meeting to @sethjenks.
